In mcpvp there are two types of people. the harcore diamond/iron armor people and the no armor cobble sword people. these two types of pvprs must be approached in different ways. when you first spawn try joining during school/ work hours or 1am pst. there wont be too many people online so less chaos to deal with. you then should look around spawn with ur protection on and try and find the way out with the least amount of people. when you have a clearing sprint at least 150-200 blocks away into the bush. cut down a tree of two and get a set of cobble tools. take your temp base and destroy it and start venturing 1000-2000 blocks away. i always like to go left/right at a 25 degree angle avoding the mainstream of adventurs. gather some seeds when gone. once you have gotten far enought from spawn try looking for a suitable place for your base. look for untouched land. building your base underwater or under a snow biome is great as it prevents a chance of xrayrs. make your base at bedrock as well for the same reason. mine straight down to bedrock (watch out for lava tho) carve a small hole underground and /sethome. then mine for lots of coal cobble iron and if ur lucky diamonds. once you get your base started patch up that giant hole into your base with smooth stone and dirt. dont use cobble as that could be xrayed. use /home to return to your base. try and gather up supplies and build a hidden chest. always put lava ontop on it!!! before you start starving to death build a wheat farm with those seeds you collected and if you have mushrooms, harvest those too. once you get more and more supplies its the fun part- pvp. now this is when i explain the two different types of people. get your iron armor, some food, fns, and ur sword and tele to spawn /spawn. now your targets as a noob are people with lesser armor. if you are exirenced go after the iron dudes. now we all hate em cobble sword dudes. all they do is camp @ spawn, kill people then go home and store their winnings. they arnt afraid to lose as they lose only a cobble sword and they generally team up in hordes. unless you spot one with some fresh cut winnings dont go after them. then there are the mvp diamond armor dudes. these guys are expirenced and generally are fully set. (fns, lava bucket, stew, enchanted shit, bow and arrow.) they usually dont go after people who they dont know but if you attack them they are sure to fight back. dont attack them unless your confident with combat. i generally love going into combat with a cobble sword and food and troll those iron armor dudes and sometimes i get lucky. have fun and enjoy your time at mcpvp!

Thanks! This is really gonna help.
I have a few other tips:
1. Reducing the chance of an X-rayer stealing your stuff by placing your items in a lot of Furnaces (be sure to put the "fuel" items such as wood, coal, etc. in the TOP slot of the furnace), because most x-rayers only go after chests and not furnaces. It requires a lot of Cobblestone but it's usually well worth it.
2. When you use the sneak-button (by default Left-SHIFT) behind a solid block (stone, dirt, logs, etc.) other players, besides x-rayers, can't see your nameplate. This is extremely useful (especially in jungle biomes and dense forest biomes) but also dangerous, as other players might use this tactic to sneak up on you and kill you.
3. If you're going to go caving/mining, try taking at least 1 sapling with you as you can't find trees underground and above ground is dangerous.
4. If you don't have food and your food bar is almost empty, but you do have a few trees around (or a sapling and some bonemeal) you can try to get an apple, this will take a while but it's usually faster than watching wheat grow, especially in SMP.

^^ you could just use bonemea, on the wheat, or log off for a while and let the wheat grow, so bone meal is a must

Instead of posting here, which is a totally old thread, make a new one. This is just bumping a totally dead thread. You would get more views if you just made a new topic :P!
