There is multiple sources besides this saying this fixes lag on most servers and it also helps players to turn it off as well in in-game options. "I had this problem with my 1.3.1 server All you have to do is in the server.config file set snooper-enabled=false instead of true. You can also turn off snooper in your client to reduce client side lag. What snooper is, is it sends info back to mojang about performance, and causes lag.
